One of the best ways of measuring the performance of any organisation is by looking at the financial returns. So how does CWRA stack up?
- Examination of the last set of Management Accounts resulted in corrections of almost £6,500
- Errors in billing by Welsh Water were spotted by your Committee resulting in a refund of £28,500
- The problems caused by deficiencies in the original plumbing have cost £36,000 to correct. Your Committee has ensured that this bill has not fallen on Century Wharf owners but on Charles Church and their contractors
- The survey to identify these problems cost £21,000 and Charles Church are being pressed to reimburse this to our Management Accounts
- Invoices from one contractor totalling £10,000 have been disallowed
- Invoices from other contractors are being queried
- A compensation payment is being discussed with Peverel OM to recognise their inadequate management.
Some of these amounts have yet to be finalised but the overall total is likely to be at least £120,000. With total expenditure of £1.3m in the Management Accounts that represents something approaching a 10% saving. Many businesses today would be very pleased to see that sort of saving in their costs, wouldn't they?
So, although these figures come with some qualifications at present, they nevertheless mean that CWRA is doing a pretty good job for its members.
Good enough for you to give CWRA your support? That support is needed in two ways:
- Subscriptions are due in February. Please renew your membership.
- The processes for identifying the above savings and pursuing them takes time. CWRA needs volunteers to help with the work in this and other areas to ensure that Century Wharf is effectively managed by Peverel OM.
